Great value for money

In just 7 months I have used this slingshot to weave literally THOUSANDS of cakes for my wife and her friends. (I'm retired and all the ladies have degrees of rheumatism or arthritis in their hands so this saves their hands for the actual knitting or crocheting). Mechanically there were no problems at all. Maybe 2-3 times since purchase I've added a SMALL amount of lube to the gears (use a silicone based lube, NOT a petroleum based lube; the petroleum based plastic will dissolve over time). My wife says the quality of the brownies is the best she's ever had, in fact, tight (but not too tight). a few tips: with one by the handle, pass the yarn through the other hand, looping it between your fingers and over your thumb to control the tension. By slightly raising or lowering your thumb, you can adjust the tension on the fly. After the cake is twisted, wrap it with a rubber band before removing it from the spindle, and then remove it. Around the end of the thread coming out from the middle I use blue masking tape so my wife can easily find it. It doesn't remove the gum during use, helps the cake hold its shape until the end, and won't collapse on its own. You need to find the elastic at the right size/tension, not too loose or tight. I use Advantage #32 (3" x 1/8" ) rubber bands available from Wal@$t; just right for the cake diameter on this spindle. I've made cakes up to 6 ounces on it,

Pros
  • Turn skeins or skeins of yarn into ready to use yarn to be used on the outside or in the centre.
Cons
  • Little Things
