Review on Thule 881 Top Deck: Black Rooftop Kayak Carrier - Efficient Solution for Easy Transportation by Michael Morgan

ideal for roof racks

I have a Rav4 and needed a strong, secure roof rack for my kayak that would easily fit my kayak and fit my tight budget. It meets all requirements. It comes with two strong straps and drawstrings, but I only use straps. Once you buckle it up and make sure the saddles have a rubber grip, your kayak isn't going anywhere. In fact, the bigger challenge for me is getting the kayak off the saddle once I get to my destination. I found it easier to just unbuckle the saddles on one side of the car and then unsaddle the kayak and gently slide it down the back of my Rav4. I bought a Thule 854 waterslide to help get the kayak on and off the car and to protect the car from scratches. I am a 56 year old female who is not too strong but I can handle it well. Happy kayaking everyone!
