I've used many thorn finders over the years and this is the best so far. In the past I've always marked the front edge of the post by moving both ways along the wall and then going back and marking the midpoint between my two marks to determine the center of the post (time consuming and effortless). feel super accurate). I don't have to do that with this Dornfinder; As you move it along the wall, the indicators on the arrow at the top of the viewfinder gradually light up (red) until they turn green when you press the center of the pen. There's a notch on the top of the viewfinder that points to the center of the post so you can mark the center when the arrow turns green. When trying to find a stud through siding and OSB, other nail finders I've tried fail. This finder can find studs through OSB and siding on the outside of my house. It's compact, fits my hand well and feels solid although I've only just received it so time will tell.
