If your dog naturally stays away from gates like mine then this gate should suit you. I would not use this gate with a child. I put this gate over the front porch steps to keep my dog from running off the porch. She's well-behaved and doesn't try to jump over them or crawl under them. If you have an aggressive or mischievous dog, I would advise looking for a stronger gate. I took off a star because the adhesive hooks don't work well with the elastic tabs on the lattice gates. I ended up using long strips of velcro that I threaded through the elastic tabs and then wrapped around the porch posts instead.
