I needed a microphone during the COVID days to better hear lectures and attend remote meetings. While I didn't plan on spending that much, buying the Blue mic was an easy task as it consistently gets great reviews. The shock mount on the Compass Radius III Boom was really an afterthought, but when I thought of the discount for buying all the parts at once it seemed like a good deal, as well as a way to save desk space. So I took the plunge. Unfortunately, the set was shipped without an outer box (shame on you, Revane!), so when it arrived, two of the box seals were broken, the box lid was ajar, and a corner was broken off. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the ample padding in the blue packaging that protected everything. It's a beautiful device, with all key elements crafted from jet black powder-coated metal. The professional looks and sheer weight of the components stand up to visual scrutiny and scream quality. The design combines traditional old school and sleek new school at the same time. Includes a sturdy base to attach to the edge of your desk. I also liked the channel to hide the microphone cable. The Radius III shock mount works well and has the same look and feel as the Compass bar. All parts are easy to assemble, but instructions are included if you need help. (Be careful not to insert the microphone into the shock upside down. The microphone screw also comes with two washers. One of them must be placed between the microphone and the shock mount and the other between the screw base and the shock arm. Finally, the brass adapter that mentioned in the instructions is already attached to the bottom of the compass - you can screw the Radius III right in.) Which brings me to the crux of using this set effectively. MAKE SURE TO ADJUST THE TENSION SCREW at the base of the compass prior to installation. (They even put a big sticker to remind you). It is too tight when shipped and this explains the vast majority of reported issues with the boom arm not holding position, too stiff etc. I unscrewed the turnbuckle almost completely and found that the tension for the three friction joints when using Blue Yeti was perfect, shock absorbers and blue pop filters (sold separately). I can move the mic around easily, but it stays exactly where I want it. The Blue Yeti lived up to its reputation for really high quality, and the voice sounds way better than my Hyper X headset's built-in mic. Finally, although the instructions don't say so, the Blue Pop clip came out to fit perfectly on the vertical base of the compass mount. a table with a rounded edge with a large radius. So if you have one you may need some flat spacers or you can buy an adapter that will allow you to install the table through a drilled hole.
