Review on πŸ“ž AT&T 1070 4-Line Expandable Corded Phone System: Caller ID/Call Waiting, Speakerphone & Handset - Black/Silver by Helen Spencer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good phones but better control could be nice.

I bought 16 of these phones to replace AT&T's 955 model phones for a customer who was getting on in years and needed more than 12 stations to support the old phones. After looking at other 4-line phones, these turned out to be the best choice. However, one of the sixteen phones was inherently defective. The shortcoming was the "lack of speakerphone" - a common complaint about this model. Revain quickly replaced the broken phone. The phones have been in use for a week now and the staff still love them. The AT&T 1070 phone functions similarly to the AT&T 955 phone system it replaced, but there are a few key differences to note: 1. The 1070 does not have a dedicated All Pages button. To create "all pages", press "Intercom" and then the # key on the dial pad.2. If you are on a call and there is an incoming call on the other line, the caller ID will NOT be displayed automatically. This may have been done to make "Caller Waiting Caller ID" work properly. To view the caller ID on another line, press the < or > key in the navigation panel to the right of the display.3. Others report that all four lines should be the same on all four phones. However, the manual states that only Line 1 should be shared by all phones in the system. But there is a contradiction in the manual that says only line 4 can be called a "private" number. However, we didn't care because the appearance of the line is the same on all phones in the system. If you want music on hold on these phones, you must purchase the Skutch Electronics model CK-1A4 MOH adapter, list price $325.00. You only need one adapter for the entire system. The adapter is fairly crude, consisting of a control box that sits under the phone and a button that mounts above the line status indicators. It determines when the line is held by the frequency of the flashes of light. As a result, there is a small delay before the music starts playing for the caller. The adapter does not provide music, you must connect your own music source such as a CD player. In our case I used a mono program for the radio station I installed these phones for. But most of them are minor issues. As long as you only need 4 trunks and 16 stations or fewer these phones are a good deal.

Pros
  • Looks good
Cons
  • Not everything fits
