For daisy chaining with a headless server, JBOD, etc. this is great. You just have to know what you're getting yourself into: for me this works great with no drivers required for OSX High Sierra with a third party serial app. The game is to get one of these, and then get adapters for different uses. Some use RJ11 for serial port, some use RJ45, and the pins are NOT universal. There is no one size fits all! So it is very important to know the required pinout before getting the second puzzle piece. If you don't know what that is, it might be wise to get one of the reconfigurable serial connectors that are plentiful on Amazon. In my case, with several different connectors desired and infrequent use, I figured a two-piece solution would be best with adapters so I could mix and match.
