Good decision for a plug in the wrong place.
On my truck, the RV fork is built into the front body and the fifth wheel cable isn't particularly long. The choice was to move the fork to the back of the bed (big job), install a longer fifth wheel cable (less big job but still a hassle), or use this extension to get more length. I chose this extension and it solved all my problems.
