The tool is easy to use and has not yet fallen apart on my first use. You can only use your fingers to remove the spring plates if you have strong fingers and hands, but it is painful. This tool reduced the work from 5 minutes of fiddling and sore fingers to 30 seconds to secure the lock to the steering column and turn the wing nut just enough to loosen the spring retainer. This also helps prevent possible finger or hand ejection when using a screwdriver to remove the retaining clip. Every time I squeeze the spring plate with my hand, the screwdriver seems to slip off the retaining clip and dig into my arm. I don't understand why other tools like this cost more and see no reason to pay the extra money. This one works great.
