I really like these things, I've used liquid drain cleaners, the problem hasn't been solved but these little things have helped, I'm very happy. In terms of cleaning honestly they are so cheap I threw them away but one cleaned 3 sinks and 2 tubs so I guess I got my money's worth and didn't have to use the others and it was 3 Months. I should probably clean them once a month. I had trouble with a bathtub, I stuck it too deep and had trouble pulling it out, good thing it was my last bathtub :) so before you put it all the way in make sure it comes out, some clogs will drain out, it really worked with a lot of jerking :P other than that i'm so happy and no harmful chemicals which is the best!
