First of all a great filter at a great price. I had a few alignment issues getting it to fit properly on a 2014 Civic Si, but it eventually snapped into place and all was well. As for the performance increase, there really is none. Just in case, after changing the filter, we put the car on a dyno and "lost" 1.5 hp. I say "lost" in quotes because we are likely to actually break even as there will always be small swings on the dyno. However, keep in mind that this was done on a car made out of bone material. If I also add headers and an exhaust, with the higher CFM rating of this filter we would get a horsepower boost with the filter, although again it would be hard to tell how much was coming out of the filter versus the header or exhaust. Detailed specifications of this particular filter: It is made of wire-wrapped cotton gauze that can be easily washed and reused. K&N recommends every 50,000 miles; Personally, I would halve that every 25,000 km. I switched to this filter when my car had clocked a thousand miles and it was already black with dust and dirt. It literally takes 15 seconds to take the filter out, 10 minutes to clean, dry and oil it, and another 15 seconds to swap it out. times in my workshop about how much oil they need to fit a new filter. K&N recommends .85 ounces which you can check on their website and I say 1 ounce. Keep this in mind before you pour 4 ounces of oil into a freshly cleaned filter. The #1 problem I see when customers bring cars with these filters is over-lubrication. It drips everywhere and worse, it gets sucked into the MAF and into the intake side and is difficult to clean. The filter is durable! It's not made out of cheap "orange FRAM foam"; Instead, it's made from a nice, soft, yet durable rubber material that will last you the life of your vehicle. *** THIS FILTER! The short 'cold' air intakes actually pull air straight out of the engine bay, and on a hot day the temperature of the incoming air rises to 75 degrees or higher than the outside temperature. I've seen air temperatures approaching 200 degrees Fahrenheit as they enter the engine. The whole idea behind the COLD air intake is that COLD air is drawn into the engine. However, either make a full cold air intake that draws in air from outside the vehicle, or use this filter.
