**UPDATE After a month of use my big dumb dog almost ignores this. I increased the setting to the highest level after he seemed to get used to the lower setting and he's still barking. I still think he barks less but maybe more because my other dog barks less. I am planning to try the citronella collar on a large dog. I changed the star rating from 5 to 4 because the dogs definitely respected him for a while and out of the three dogs, two stopped barking. Below is the first review**: I was hesitantly optimistic that this would work for my 2 dogs who run up and down our fence line barking at people, squirrels, wind, trees, etc. We live at a busy intersection in the city so they have plenty of room to bark. We have the lowest setting for running and my older dog got the hang of it straight away. My dimwitted nimble 2 year old labrador took longer to figure out the process and in about 2 weeks he basically had it. I would say the barking is about 90% less than before, I totally agree. The third dog came to visit and she was scared and didn't go outside after the other dog kept setting her on fire. So I would call it a complete success because I didn't want them to stop barking completely, but rather bark less often and for shorter periods of time. And I have 2 other settings to move it to if they become insensitive to it. I would recommend this to anyone who has barking issues, in fact I've raved about it before!
