Review on πŸ’™ Rit Dye 8 oz Navy Blue Fabric Dye - 8 Fluid Ounces by Nicole Mcleod

Follow instructions for best results

I used this to dye a dozen white cotton washcloths. By following the directions and using the requested dish soap and salt, my washcloths turned out to be a perfect navy blue. This is also the process for dyeing viscose and linen. There are also guidelines for dyeing nylon, silk, and wool. I would follow the instructions exactly. Maybe reviewers who didn't get great results didn't? Right after that I used Rit Color Stay Dye Fixative to keep the color of the washcloths. After a few washes they still look great. When trying to decide whether to use powdered or liquid paint, be sure to use liquid. IMO Gives a more durable, vibrant color. This bottle is enough to dye 2 pounds of fabric with 6 gallons of water (they say it's the equivalent of 4 adult t-shirts. I used half a bottle and only 2 gallons of water for 12 washcloths). Six gallons is certainly not what a washing machine can hold. Again, I wonder if the results of others have anything to do with all of these factors. In addition, to get a darker and more intense color, you need to double the amount of dye. Finally, Rit has a website with detailed instructions that you can review before deciding to purchase if that helps.
