After several excruciating soldering projects, I've replaced my recently purchased but incredibly weak Weller iron with this one. This iron takes longer to heat up than the Weller, around 15 seconds. Big thing. I've used my Eneloop AA in both irons, but somehow the batteries in the Hakko last about 4 times longer, the solder melts better and it seems to be getting hotter. Weller falls out after about half an hour and I would be very fickle in terms of temperature. This Hakko is durable and very reliable. I have used the Weller WES51 station professionally for many years but wanted something smaller for home use. I expected big compromises with smaller hardware, but there weren't any. I replaced all the electrolytic capacitors in my old Marshall JCM 800 guitar amp with this little single charge iron. That's the real deal. If you are comparing two cordless irons from Weller and Hakko, this is the iron for you. It's excellent in every way and on par with most desktop stations.
