This is an amazing collar when used properly. PLEASE READ and do your research before purchasing a stun collar. I have no experience with one and have had great success. Read the full story below. We adopted our 7 year old 80 lb Labrador/Pointer from my in-laws after they finally got fed up with his horrific behavior. He was frankly out of control. His name is Ace, and Ace did what he wanted, when he wanted. He would take food from the table, from your hands, from the bin, etc. He would run away every time the door opened and when you tried to put his leash on he would just run away from you and run away many times . in front of cars. He would cry when separated from the guests, whom he would eventually pounce on and bite. He just wasn't a pleasant dog and far from being man's best friend. When we recorded it, I decided that enough is enough. I feel like I've always been good at dog training as my previous dogs as well as my current 9 year old boxer were generally well behaved but understood he was going to be a problem. I read about e-collars and decided to give it a try. If you buy this collar, watch all Garmin E-Collar training videos on YouTube. There are so many basic things I wouldn't know if I didn't know. After only 3 months and 10 minutes of training a day, Ace has become a new dog. He's not perfect and I still work with him every day, but now he's part of the family and he understands that I'm the leader of the pack, not him. I didn't take a video to show how out of control he is but as you can see from the recent photos and video he is completely off leash now and will listen to me when I ask him for anything. I walk around the neighborhood and park to enjoy an off-leash baseball game and Ace is at my side waiting for my moves. If I turn around, he does the same, even if another dog or person is in our way. He no longer steals food or jumps on guests as I call him and lets him sit when they come and lie in his bed while we eat and is a lot nicer to be around. Finally, the shock levels are 1-99, which as others have said is overkill. I shocked myself at level 30 before putting it on my pet and about 10 members of my family since they were curious. Each person could manage a different level before it became uncomfortable. This is important as each dog also responds to different stimulations, Ace worked on levels 1-3 depending on the distraction. IF you watch the videos I recommend they will teach you how to find the right level of work for your dog so you don't hurt him. With that said, as you gain experience you will find what works for you. Ace responds better to a beep than an electric shock, so this collar is great. It has all the incentives and you can adapt on the fly. Sorry to be wordy but I'm really glad I made the effort, Ace is a great dog and now he can enjoy the freedom and love he deserves.
