Works great if you are McGyver fittings *Photo and Description*

This is a tough little workhorse. We have a 16,000 gallon pool that needs to be drained every 2 or 3 years. Our previous swamp was borrowed and never returned. In any case, this is a more advanced unit. The included fitting screws in easily, but you'll have a hard time finding a hose that just fits. This corresponds to the DRAIN HOSE. Custom made garden hose. We went to a hardware store with a black plastic part and MacGyver made some parts to fit a standard garden hose. It's a "tiered" system and it works great. If you really want to pump water: Buy a drain hose. It fits right over the faucet and sucks water out faster than art in the wind. Don't attach it to 1/2" thin flexible hose. The motor on this easily moves water quickly, but it must have an outlet hose to handle it. Use a garden hose or sump hose (about $30). There is a float attached to the top of the sump which you can use as a handle to lower or raise into the water. Once the handle is under the unit it turns itself off. There is no external on/off switch. There were no instructions either doing it. The cord is about 15ft long so you'll need to plug it into a grounded extension cord. Connect it to GFI if you can. It's going in the water guys. Be safe. The pump runs quietly and is happily pumping water off while you're gone.we had some sand, pollen, dirt at the bottom of the pool and it was sucking them out of the hose like we slipped it down a back alley for $20.don't expect to see it right out of the box v use. Buy the hardware you see in the picture while waiting for it to arrive. Easy Peasy, lemon pomace. BTW we had to vacuum the bottom of the pool to get the remaining water (it was too shallow for the sump to work). We removed the top of the vacuum and submerged the sump in the base of the vacuum. I swear sometimes I'm surprised at the choices my own hands have made. Have fun pumping water.
