Did the job. As other people have said it can be difficult to get the right angle because it only rotates, you can't lock the angle, it just hangs. So if you scratch the glass, you can't use too much force or it will be straightened or bent backwards. But it works pretty well. Despite being a long thin rod it has a fairly good grip and is not flimsy. The blade is very thin, but it scrapes away thick algae in a few passes. You should use back scraping and the fourth method instead of smooth scraping to get rid of thick algae. I didn't use sponge or mesh but they look comfortable. Here are some photos before and after it was good. I have an old, rough glass tank with lots of scratches and it still removes algae well. I would definitely buy it again but it looks like it will last a long time.
