They have a tiny spring mechanism that glues to the hooks. After a while, the glue breaks down and they fly apart, launching the tiny feather several feet into the air, making them almost impossible to spot (read: dangerous for children, animals, and vacuum cleaners). Glue a thin wire to the plastic where it has to withstand the repeated tension of the spring? What was the manufacturer thinking? My old hooks that had thick wire wrapped OUTSIDE of the hook are still strong after 15 years. To my delight I found that they are still available. The Fox Run, Drip Dry and Baijer (spelling?) brands are made the old-fashioned way. I will buy one of these to replace my broken ones. Meanwhile, I'm still looking for a few reasons for these errors.
