Review on Philips 8X DVD+R DL Spindle, 50 Pack - DR8S8B50F/17 by Brian Krump

Great results so far!

(update added 09/07/2009) Previously, burning DVD-DL at 1x to 4x resulted in one (1) error in 35 cases (less than 3%) when using the Samsung SH-S203N SATA device . I will definitely buy this product again. Much luck! Hello everyone! We bought a 50 piece spindle for $39.99 plus shipping (90 cents each). We're using a freshly installed Samsung SATA SH-S203N DVD+-RW/RAM (updated to SB02 firmware). Our proven RecordNow! by Sonic (v6.5.1) does not recognize the dual-layer capability of the DVD drive. We downloaded and installed DVD Decrypter v3.5.4.0 (freeware) and used it successfully to decrypt DVD for backup purposes, even with RCE protection, creating files on PC local hard drive. We downloaded and installed ImgBurn v2.4.2 (free software, version 2.5.0 is also available) and used it successfully to create .ISO image files from decrypted DVD files, also on PC local hard drive. We use ImgBurn again to successfully burn .ISO image files onto blank Philips DL DVDs loaded into a Samsung SH-S203N DVD drive. Excellent results at 1x, 2x and 4x write speeds. Advice. When creating .ISO files from decrypted original DVD files, target the .ISO files to a different physical disk if one is available - the process is much faster since different disks are used and therefore different write heads ( if they are on the same physical disk as the original decrypted DVD files, the drive heads must perform both read (source) and write (destination) functions.
