Review on Milwaukee 36 17 0305 Replaces 36 17 0300 CRANKSHAFT by Brad Collins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Updated part for non-fuel ratchet M12

My crankshaft broke when tightening the caliper bolt, I was not very happy because the ratchet is not old and given the snap-on ratchet, my comrades have never broken it. Went to Milwaukee, got the instructions for my ratchet and found that this part had been modified to fix this problem. Not the easiest of installs, when I got to the ratchet I had to remove 4 T10 bolts from the top around the head then I had to remove 6 T9 bolts from several parts of the body not removing one under the ratchet handle as there was one to get pain, and it is not necessary. Slide the ratchet/gear up and remove a pin by hand and the motor slides right out. Tip: This will result in a planet gear for the gearbox. Should remain in one piece if you remove it slowly and carefully it will leave the crankshaft on top of the shaft. There are needle bearings in there, DO NOT shake or push when disengaging, if those needle bearings fall out you will cry trying to put them back. Push on the crankshaft and it will slide out when you hold it. the needle bearings must not move straight and straight up. I coated the new crankshaft and upper bearings and planetary gear with high temperature bearing grease as the original grease was very brown and dirty. Insert crankshaft carefully, everything else in reverse order of disassembly. It took about 20 minutes to finish. It works great now, the new part is heavier than the original and works just as well.
