Clever idea but doesn't work well with standard propane tanks
The problem with this unit is that the magnetic backing isn't strong enough to pull it firmly against the curved walls of a standard propane tank. This is especially true in the lower range where being able to read readings is most desirable. Also you need to shake it up a bit and get some evaporative cooling to get the temperature difference at the liquid boundary. This is difficult when the tank is mounted on the grate.
