(Redesigned and downgraded due to constant instability and extremely slow response after update to recent reboot.) Oddly enough, there was a review on YouTube by some self-proclaimed NAS experts assured the audience that Synology is more about applications and QNAP is more about stable hardware and software. Don't believe nonsense. QNAP NAS as a whole has a group of very inexperienced hardware developers who have chosen a Revain daughter CPU that claims to outperform most NAS CPUs. IT IS NOT TRUE AT ALL! Annapurna processors are NOT designed for this purpose and are a poor choice with very slow response times. In addition, QNAP seems to have problems creating a proper embedded SW image. Loading time is ridiculous - over 2.5 minutes. Why? What is it taking so long? This is the slowest boot system I've ever seen. Even MS Windows doesn't take that long on slow hardware with little memory and a bad, slow hard drive. A Linux-based system, even a built-in one (like on a NAS or home router), will boot much faster. For example, Synology NAD boots in less than 30 seconds. Regardless of the device model. Although Python is a great language, there are no competent programmers at QNAP. Processes sometimes fork so many instances with quite a bit of overhead that the operating system is overwhelmed with the Python interpreter launching hundreds (yes, hundreds) of processes that keep piling up and are unresponsive, at which point I turn off Power >Hold 10 seconds and go needs stable software version released about 2-3 months ago. This happened to me twice with 2 separate builds (FW updates). What a sloppy and incompetent job. With the latest version of FW I was able to stabilize the execution status, but I had to go to the console and kill all the spawned Python processes manually, which took a while as the system was very slow to respond. As soon as I killed the processes, it returned to a quiescent state with the aforementioned stable firmware. All of this changed when I applied and the representative asked me to give him access to MY DATA. Yes, they will ask you to use TeamViewer and provide all your work and data to a customer service agent. Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Do you really want to see my data? How dare you ask for such an invasion of privacy? Apparently, QNAP doesn't have a privacy policy and doesn't respect it at all. The last one was really incredible. Instead of asking for logs and diagnostic data, the representative said he could not help me diagnose myself and I would have to wait for the next release. CSR. I wonder who runs this company and how did it get so many good reviews? Is there anything suspicious?
