China initial installation settings

This head unit connects to the internet and I found it strange that I had to change the internet/wifi settings to US. Leads me to suspect spyware is installed on the device, but this car is only used on weekends and long trips, so not that often. The setup was a standard head unit replacement, but on the 2003 Explorer Eddie Bower it didn't quite fit in the space with the trim plate that I had on my old Kenwood unit. I've been looking and can't find another disguise set, so I'm taking care of the sunken radio. The existing camera is connected as expected. Existing steering wheel controls will NOT work properly. It sees all signals from the steering wheel as the same, so it can only adjust one controller. Again this is a very seldom used vehicle so not a big deal just another annoyance for me but if its a daily driver it will be an issue. I've called myself to search but can't find a way to default the "home screen" / screen that appears when the car starts up to the actual device's home screen. There are settings I'll never use, and settings I'd really like but can't find if they even exist. I gave it 3 stars because it works as a radio, which was its main purpose, but it's lacking in many areas! I believe the saying is true; You get what you pay for. but my much more expensive Kenwood unit, which worked great, lasted just over 2 years with VERY minimal use. Happy searching for one that does what it's supposed to and lasts a long time!
