Make sure you're solving the correct problem
I'm sure this would work great - it would look identical to what I removed. Another note: if you can pull the key out of the ignition cylinder, the first thing you should do is check that your shifter reads park (even if it's technically in park, the readout might not show one bit). The ignition switch turned out to be my problem.
