I can't say enough good things about Purigen. I have a 16 gallon bioborb with 3 fish and 4 snails and even with weekly water changes it stayed cloudy except for about 1-2 days after a 30% water change. Based on other good reviews I bought Seachem Prime and Purigen and couldn't be happier. Prime was recommended as my understanding is that other dechlorinators may react poorly to Purigen (no personal experience - only read this in a few places and didn't want to risk harming the critters). I did 30% water changes with Prime for 2 weeks to prime my water. At week 3 I added some Purigen to my recirculating filter in the tank (leaving the standard media in my standard Biorb bubble filter). A day later the water became crystal clear and stayed that way. I was surprised! I still do my weekly 30% just to oxygenate the water, but I no longer have to worry about cloudy water. I see a lot of questions about consistency, so I'll add here that it's almost like sand, so tights or stockings will do (filter bags are also sold, but my application is very small and this bag won't fill my filter box). The tights did their job (except the cashier asked why the guy was buying tights).
