I have a good working old VGA only flat screen and when one of my new monitors (I have 2 hooked up) broke down I found that the DVI to VGA adapter I had didn't work at all to power it connect to the computer. I have ordered another monitor but it would be nice to have a second monitor once the display goes dark. So I ordered this DVI-D 24+1 to VGA cable at the same time as my new monitor so I had it handy. I tested it and it worked great with the old display.
