I have had this antenna for a few weeks now and am very impressed with its performance. I paired it with a Uniden Home Patrol scanner and it effectively doubled my hearing range. i'm ok 22 miles southwest of the Chicago Loop and I have no problem tracking down the entire Chicago Police Department, including the far north. The Midway Airport Tower sounds like it's on the block when it's actually 15 miles away. This antenna really helped with the train tape as I can now pick up all the train broadcasts in the southern part of the subway area when I could hear almost nothing with the built in antenna. I attached the antenna to an old metal birdcage in the window of my office, which is in the annex on the top floor of the house. My office is above the roofline of most of the other houses in the neighborhood, so that might help. Because this antenna works so well, I don't need an outside antenna. This performance is without radials, which can be purchased separately, which can further increase the range.
