Review on ๐Ÿ”ช ZYLISS Control Paring Knife Set: Premium German Steel Knives for Professional Kitchen Cutlery - 2-Piece Set by Andy Thorson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Mixed bag but great bread knife

The 8 inch bread knife is the best knife in this set. Thick and durable, it's great for bread and cakes. The steak knives are also quite good and compare well to my everyday Calphalon steak knives. The scissors are excellent and a nice addition to the kitchen. The rest of this set is Midland, ho hum stuff. Compared to my 1992 Chicago Cutlery knives, these Zyliss knives are flimsy (aside from being a great bread knife!). The metal isn't as thick and the blades tend to bend under more pressure. A 5 inch paring knife has a bent tip due to a fall or something similar. In any case, they are not as strong as my other knives. I threw away the knife block because it's black, looks ugly in my kitchen, and my existing knife block had a few holes from missing or removed knives. The original list price was $75. At $25 or $30 this set might cost you because that's a lot of stuff for that amount of money. Just understand that you won't get top-notch items for that amount.

Pros
  • Everything great!
Cons
  • Expensive
