Review on πŸ“» HAM Equipment Balun Kit NXO-100 for 1-30Mhz Shortwave Radio: Magnetic Balance for Enhanced Performance of Amateur Radio Antennas - DIY by Stephen Parkell

A good set for someone with an empty basket of parts

If you are building a disposable antenna, this is a good alternative to purchasing the components individually. If you plan to build several, better buy parts in bulk. Overall quality is good, with a decent SO-239 bulkhead connector, rustproof hardware, and a pre-drilled body with watertight gasket and drainage holes. I didn't use the included magnet wire or toroid for this project and I'm not sure what the mix is (31?). The built-in T130-2 is as big as it fits in the tiny body, and that's fine; I need a nice little transformer, not my usual disassembled project boxes. Edit: Research shows that the included "NXO-100" toroid is a NiZn composite material that matches 43, 52, or 61 and may be suitable for EFHW autotransformers, but does not have sufficient common mode choke impedance in other applications. YMMV!For those leaving bad reviews due to the lack of included instructions: the description states that instructions are available from the seller. There are so many ways to wrap a balun or unun that including printed instructions would be impractical (and a waste of paper).

Pros
  • 1-30MHz Ham Radio The HF radio magnetic scale kits use a large, high-quality nickel-zinc magnet ring that operates in the 1-30MHz HF band. buyer to collect after purchase, please do not buy if you mind! !
Cons
  • Slightly dented
