It's good wood and has two spindles, although I'm not sure why two are needed when a longer one will do. I had to take a drill and deepen the hole in the stand. It has no bearings, just rotates in a hole in a nice and heavy base. I like the weight of the base. Lighter ones tend to tip over or slide towards you. I wouldn't buy them as gifts as they would need to be unwrapped. I wouldn't buy another for the same reason, but the wood is well sanded, crack free and strong.
