I like the concept. I like the filter element wrapped around absorbent materials. The filter does a good job of removing odors and flavors from the water. What I don't like is having to disassemble the filter element to get it out of the reusable "capsule". The filter element fits very tightly to the container so that no water runs past it. However, this seal is a problem when changing the filter. The filter element has a pull tab to remove it. That's not enough, at least when the element is still wet. I didn't try to dry it first because that would take at least a day and I don't want the filter to be "out of line" for that long. I just replaced the 4th item in the block and changed it according to the recommended schedule. . Each modification involved cutting the fiber wrap, extracting enough filter material so I could slide something between the filter and container to break the seal, and then pull it out. The instructions for the elements recommend leaving the bottom of the pod in the jar. This isn't a very pleasant thought considering how much work it takes to extract an element with just a pod in hand. Overall it was a good experiment, but I won't mess around anymore.
