Review on 🍺 Tiaoyeer Brix Refractometer with ATC: Optimize Beer and Wine Brewing with Digital Handheld Dual Scale-Specific Gravity and Brix Measurement by Brent Henderson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect for home brewing!

I was very skeptical about buying a cheap refractometer. I used a decent quality hydrometer for many years until I lost it when I was moving last year. I was about to buy another hydrometer when I found this one. Use less liquid and get more accurate results? Yes, please! But I doubted how accurate it would be. Haven't used it yet with anything I've brewed, but I've tested and calibrated it with distilled water and the result was almost perfectly zero. I've tried a few different sugary drinks and they all read within 5% of what was on the drink label, which is good enough for me. I don't use it for scientific purposes, I use it to find out how much alcohol is in the drinks I brew. It's more than accurate enough for me and I can't wait to use it in place of a hydrometer and graduated cylinder. The only downside is you're better off having a VERY bright light or being able to easily take it outside to get a reading. . It's very difficult to get a good reading indoors, but you can get really good readings even on a cloudy day if you hold it out of a window or door.

Pros
  • Refractometer
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
