I am a regular homeowner; without any association with Reese, Revain or any related towing company for the products covered by this review. I hope this review is an honest attempt to help other people who need a good product. I bought it in early September 2012. I have a 2004 Dodge Dakota QuadCab with a 4.7v 8 engine that I have installed a Reese Towpower 74642 Brakeman Compact Brake Control. on the passenger side of the vehicle for reasons of space. It worked flawlessly after a simple installation. I used it in conjunction with a 2002 LoadStar tow dolly that had electric brakes on the dolly. I towed a 2004 Chevy Malibu LS from South Dakota to Washington, Maine [via Michigan (where the tow truck was raised), West Ohio, NE Kentucky, SE Ohio, NW West Virginia, southern and eastern Pennsylvania; before going to Maine, about 3185 miles]. He worked in the United States as an Eastern Mountain Ranger. It was a life saver a few times on our trip when a bad driver in a crash suit cut us down. I'm glad I can buy it so cheap with my small budget. No trailer or even Wal-Mart could match the $25 price tag. Most wanted $70 or more for a compatible product. It has a slide lever [instead of a roller switch to attach magnets to the trailer brakes] that's hard to see when you first use it. Just read the user manual; it's worth the time and quick read. I recommend it to anyone who needs brake control. One of the recommended purchase additions is a 20A resettable fuse for this product.
