I have long, thick and heavy hair. I usually use clips as extra support for my hair ties to keep my buns on my head. The weight of my hair often pulls my buns down and when I'm working my hair can't constantly fall out of the hair ties and unravel. These bobby pins appear to be of high quality. I've bought many different styles and brands and the plastic on them is actually strong enough that I'm not worried about a tooth cracking or breaking. When I first opened the package I was surprised at how small they were and I had concerns that they wouldn't be big enough to do anything other than a half updo with my thick hair. However, after testing, they can hold an amazing amount of hair without shedding it. I was particularly pleased that they didn't slip. I don't have fine or thin hair, but I assume it works well on those hair types as well. Overall I would recommend these clips to anyone with any hair type. They do a great job of keeping hair exactly where you want it for hours.
