Description "Waterproof" is no joke - we put several suitcases in it (2 large duffel bags, one small and one large) and it was almost full - we heard. it's probably going to rain, so let's put things in big garbage bags first. It was a 2.5 hour drive and there were multiple downpours and one heavy downpour along the way. When we arrived the garbage bags were wet. So if you're using it and a rain forecast is on the way, be proactive and protect the contents with some plastic. The rack is solid, and while it took some maneuvering with the straps to get it firmly attached to the roof rack, it was reasonably secure once it was in place. Definitely a thumbs up considering the price and performance. Just don't take it if you think you'll be traveling in rainy weather and don't want to worry about extra content protection.
