When I tried to remove the factory part I broke it so I had to drill a small hole in the center about half an inch deep then drive a screw in and use needle nose pliers. Grab the screw head and pull out the defective sensor. Before replacing I cleaned the hole of dirt and made sure you use the small red O-ring of the original, the replacement sensor is not included. I also applied a small amount of marine grease to the base of the sensor (not the sensor itself), carefully slipped the new part back into the hole and secured it with the original hex head screw. the original cable to the fork just behind the fender at the top of the shock absorber.
