After purchasing the Surface Pro, I knew I wanted to connect this fine device to the biggest TV I could find. Unfortunately, after spending all that money on a Surface Pro, I was reluctant to spend another $50 on an official Microsoft Surface Pro HDMI adapter. For $15 I settled on this adapter. He works like a champ. When the Surface Pro 2 came out, I bought one. This adapter works just as well with it. It is currently hooked up to a 40" TV and is working fine. I had to turn off overscan on my TV, but that has nothing to do with the adapter. With my Surface Pro (not 2) I couldn't get any sound through this adapter despite both Mini Display Port and HDMI supporting it. I don't know if this is a Surface Pro limitation or not. I haven't tried it with Surface Pro 2 yet. I use it with the UD-3900 USB 3.0 Pluggable Universal Dock with dual video outputs for Windows 8.1, 8, 7, XP (HDMI and DVI/VGA up to 2048 x 1152, Gigabit Ethernet, Audio, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 4 USB 2.0 connectors, 4A power adapter) ) Docking station and speakers connected directly to it. If you have a Surface Pro or Surface Pro 2 and need a cheaper HDMI adapter, this one will meet all your needs.
