Highly recommend starting with PI setup

I bought this kit a few weeks ago to get started with PI and learn a little bit about all the things RP does and controls can. The kit contains many components that still work well and are of good quality. I didn't have any bent pins on any of the components. You will receive a link to download the latest manuals and source code. The tutorials are way better than I expected. They are detailed and easy to follow. The Python code works. I haven't tried any C or Java code. Some projects also briefly introduce the I2C and SPI PI buses that you really need to use to connect multiple components to the PI. Even after completing the tutorial, most of the components can still be used in your own projects. Specifically, the breadboard, "T" connector, A/D converter, breadboard power supply, etc. Buying all of these components individually quickly adds up, so buying a kit makes sense. If I have any complaints, I wish some of the more complex code examples were a little better documented. In particular, the LCD matrix. I'm no expert on Python (or programming in general). Some find it difficult to understand what is happening. This kit also suffers from the "thin resistor wire" problem that almost all breadboard resistors have, no matter what you buy. A simple fix is to bend (fold) the last 1/4 inch of the resistance wire and crimp it with pliers to double the thickness going into the breadboard and make much stronger connections.

Pros
  • Durable test results
Cons
  • Something is wrong
