Review on MHU Professional Salon Grade 1875W Hair Dryer - Low Noise Ionic Ceramic AC Infrared Heat with Concentrator and Diffuser (Black Color) by Monica Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not at all quiet. Tested with a decibel meter.

This hair dryer is considered low noise. No, that is not so. My wife wanted a quiet hair dryer to replace her existing hair dryer as loud noises bother her after a concussion. She didn't find it quiet at all, so I tested her with my decibel meter. See attached test photos. I measured the maximum distance I could comfortably hold the hair dryer from my head, which was 6 inches, so I tested it at that distance from the meter. I chose to point the dryer at the counter because when you use it, it's pointed at your head. I got 101dB on low settings and around 106dB on high settings. This test was conducted with no other noise in the room - no fan in the bathroom, no running water, no one speaking. Only hair dryer. I wouldn't call 101dB quiet and it was a low setting. He comes back. If you don't need a silent hair dryer, this one might be for you. I give him an "A" for your false testimony. Nobody will call 101 dB quiet, and certainly not 106 dB. BTW, I tested her old hair dryer under the same conditions (at 6 inches, pointed straight at a meter) - 75dB on low and 89dB on high.
