Review on Pretec 56k CF Modem for PDA/ Pocket PC & portable devices with CF slot by Caleb Eichbauer

It works! what more can i say

When you buy a modem for your Pocket PC, you probably don't bother with the bells and whistles; You need something as small and reliable as possible to connect to the internet, check email or surf the web. The Pretec modem is ideal for this purpose. No blinking LEDs, no driver disks; The box contains nothing but a tiny modem, a phone cord, and a brief instruction manual. (Not even an AOL drive. You have to slide.) I was able to connect in under ten minutes without touching the instruction manual. Just pop the modem into the slot, plug in the phone cord, set up a few basic connection settings, and you're done. If your ISP supports Windows dial-up networking, it will most likely support it. The weak point is leadership; The installation options described on pages 7 and 8 may not meet your needs. Because the Pocket PC setup dialogs are very similar to the Windows Dial-Up Networking setup dialogs, you should have the setup instructions from your ISP available. In summary, this product is definitely worth more than a look; It offers you full dial-in options in just a few cubic centimeters of space. A final word of caution: This product is also known as the "Pocket PC Email Extension Pack". If you have just bought a PDA, there may be a special offer for this expansion pack and you should check the prices and terms of this offer before making a purchase decision.
