It works! what more can i say

When you buy a modem for your Pocket PC, you probably don't bother with the bells and whistles; You need something as small and reliable as possible to connect to the internet, check email or surf the web. The Pretec modem is ideal for this purpose. No blinking LEDs, no driver disks; The box contains nothing but a tiny modem, a phone cord, and a brief instruction manual. (Not even an AOL drive. You have to slide.) I was able to connect in under ten minutes without touching the instruction…

Pretec modem is easy!

I bought a Pretec modem for my HP Jornada 545 and was amazed at how easy it was to use. By simply plugging it into the device, Windows automatically recognized it and no drivers were required. I had a configuration problem and Pretec support gave me the answers I needed in less than a minute! I recommend this product to anyone who wants to take full advantage of their PDA. It is necessary.

  • Always excited

Helps turn a PDA into a laptop replacement

I travel a lot for business and usually take my 7.1 pound Dell laptop with me. In general, all I really need when I'm on the go is email access and a light word processor. When I recently upgraded from an old Palm III to a Compaq iPAQ handheld, I also bought a Pretec modem. It's tiny, so it easily fits in a small bag that also contains an AC adapter and a few other small items. But it works great. I've had no problems accessing my AOL email using the AOL Anywhere software. I had a little more…

Excellent no frills modem

If you already know how to set up a dial-up connection on your Windows 9x computer, then this modem will not allow you to access the Internet from your PDA to go. Glob; They are ready to use within 5-10 minutes after taking it out of the box. I originally bought this modem to use with my Cassiopeia E-105, I have used it many times with my friend's Cassiopeia E-115 and now I use it regularly with my Cassiopeia E-125. Despite some other customer reviews on this product, please note: THIS MODEM…

A must for your Pocket PC!

At first I kept getting the 'No Media' error mentioned in other reviews of this product. I called Pretec's direct tech support line at 510-580-8339 (mentioned by one of the reviewers here) and was given all the information I needed to troubleshoot the error. They told me that a digital answering machine with messages that beep when you pick up the phone can eliminate the idle line required to make a call to an ISP. After saving the messages and removing the beeps, I got through with no…

Pretec CF Modem - Modems

How funny! Revain asked me to 'type' my comments but after being so blown away by the Pretec CF modem I was crazy enough to use HPC Casio instead! I already had an ISP and email connection set up for the external modem. Setup is the hardest part, no matter what type of modem you're using, but it's an easy task. So I just changed the type of modem I wanted to use. As stated in the SIMPLE guide, Pretec was the choice and I went for it. I was online for half a minute to do this review. Good…

Works very well, but do you really need it?

I bought this wonderful product right after I bought the PDA. It connected straight away and I dialed into my Earthlink account with no problems. I don't think it could be easier. Only thing is I've only used it 3 or 4 times. What's the point? Pocket IE works fine but the view is too small. It's cool to be able to surf the Internet with your Pocket PC, but that loses its cool pretty quickly. Now a cellular modem would make sense, but it's much more expensive and requires an additional monthly…
