While we love these sticks, we had a pretty serious problem with the sticks (in hindsight we probably should have anticipated). They're described as kid-friendly, but my 5-year-old daughter, who has always toasted marshmallows on wooden sticks, went to get marshmallows off the stick and burned her index finger and thumb on the hot metal. As I said, I probably should have foreseen this potential, but I haven't considered how it's fundamentally different from frying on a wooden skewer. I can't imagine anyone deciding to eat a marshmallow straight off a metal stick. This may seem obvious now, but please make sure your youngest campers know not to grab the ends of a stick. That issue aside, we really like Sticks and hopefully my daughter will never do it again. However, we have a few families hiking and I probably won't take them for safety reasons.
