This is a 44.00 cross slide, not a high end professional vise. I bought these for my drill press and so far they have worked well with no issues. . You can't beat him for money. The ones in HF were too big for my 8" drill, so I went with this 3" drill. I had to alter how I installed it as it's about an inch too long for my abs, but it works great. Clean the roughness with fine sandpaper and adjust all the screws. Even if you don't want this, you will need to take it apart and adjust the tension screws as some of them are very loose or not adjusted properly. This is critical to how these vices work. You'll understand which parts I'm talking about when you break it down. Others complain of stiffness or looseness because they probably didn't take it apart to check the turnbuckles. Some of the metal surfaces are pretty rough, so I took my time disassembling and cleaning everything (included). with grease) and sand down the parts at the sliding points with fine sandpaper. Once sharpened, cleaned and clamped properly (you'll feel it when you tighten them and work the vise) it runs much better and smoother than when I took it out of the box. I haven't had any issues with my jaws as others have mentioned. I was expecting any wobble or play and I didn't feel it, it's actually pretty solid. The only thing that didn't really bother me were the bolts that hold the cranks in place, but they can easily be replaced. I doubt you can find anything better for the money. I recommend this if you don't want to spend a lot of money or are on a tight budget.
