We're having a power outage due to California winds (and poor tree care from the utility), but my Chevy Bolt and this inverter came to the rescue. Our utility company cut off the electricity again, this time for almost two days, but the food hasn't gone bad and we have internet access. By connecting the inverter to a 12-volt battery, starting the car, letting it idle, sliding open the passenger door, and running extension cords indoors, I ran for 20 hours with the basic functions. The Bolt only consumes a mile of energy for every hour of home use, which in theory means I could sustain my minimum functions for over 200 hours. What a relief given the utility that threatens to make this a common occurrence over the next 10-15 years. I connected it to the car with short jumper cables as the cables that come with it are not always easy to connect. A shortcoming of the product is the unsuitable supplied cable.
