As a long-time happy Tri-Tronics user, I find Garmin's changes disappointing. With my old remote, and pretty much every pre-Garmin remote, it was easy and intuitive to control multiple dogs without even looking at the remote because you could tell by touch what collar you were wearing and what level of stimulation. (assuming you've taken the time to familiarize yourself with the remote). This is not possible with this system. Which collar is active can only be seen on the display. This slows down the process. The same applies to the steam level. While some use the same level all or almost all of the time, my dogs need a significant boost when they're on the move or concentrating on what they're doing. It is difficult and slow to make the necessary adjustments, especially when I have not decided on this dog. If you use this at night, looking at a brightly lit display will quickly destroy your night vision. I also found the system slow. From the moment I press the button until I see a reaction from the dog, this is happening more than ever on my Tri-Tronics devices, and the further away the dog is, the longer the reaction time. While this may seem logical, the speed of the signal should make it invisible, especially if we're talking hundreds of feet on a device with a 3/4 mile range. I usually set the stimulation level to 0 whenever I put the remote in my pocket to avoid accidentally activating the collar. This is another problem as it is much slower to get the remote back to a working state. I could handle most of this if it weren't for the question of choosing a collar, which is worst of all. The G3 and older devices were much faster and easier to use without having to waste time looking at the remote before activating the collar. The fact that additional collars etc. are not backwards compatible makes it a whole lot worse as anyone who has an issue with the old system or wants to add a dog will soon be forced to 'upgrade' to that system or switch to another brand that does still has intuitive and easy-to-use remote controls. I will never understand why companies feel the need to buy out a successful manufacturer and then change their successful line for the worse. Update: After using the Delta Sport for a month I gave up and sent it back. I suspect that the unit I received was defective in addition to the above issues. At first, I would often press the button on the remote control to activate the collar of a dog 100 feet away from me and get no response. Eventually, when I moved closer, usually within 20 feet, and pressed the same button at the same stimulation level, I got a response. This has happened dozens of times in different locations, which tells me it wasn't a terrain situation (it was all flat) or competing radio/interference, especially when I was in a four-acre field owned by Surrounded by water or forest there just wasn't much electronics. At the same time, I stood alongside others who had other brands of collars and even some other Garmin users who had no problems. , was a Pro 550, and because I could get all the features I needed at a much lower price from Sport Dog, I now have a Sport Dog ProHunter 2525. While I would have liked the LEDs on the Pro 550, I don't need a bark limiter so how although barking is a problem for one of my dogs he has already figured out he just needs to stop barking for a while and then he can start over. I have to manually control his bark with the remote control. Like the old one, my new remote has a dial, a toggle switch and three buttons. It has 17 training modes, 27 levels of stimulation, as well as beep and vibration. I've had it for five hours, of which it has charged two, and I can already manage it without looking. I currently have two dogs and can manage up to six. Unlike the Delta Sport, I never have to worry about accidentally changing my workout routine. This happened several times during the month I had the Delta Sport. The Sport Dog system I got is more expensive than the Delta Sport but still significantly cheaper than the Pro 550 and it offers what I want and need in a remote controlled collar. .If you are considering the Delta Sport, save yourself the headache and look at the Sport Dog Collars. I never thought I would say this to all the people I've helped put on a Tri-Tronics collar over the years, but if Garmin can't find a way to make something as good as the Tri-Tronics, "Sporty" level. I cannot recommend their training collars.
