Bark Limiter: You need to know how it works.

I like this collar. Compared to the other model I used, it has a very quick response, making it easier to train with. An important note about the bark limiter: it only disables the vibration, so it needs to be firm enough to "feel" your dog's bark. The collar should be tight enough to stay centered on the neck. This allows the dog to bark several times before firing. The manual doesn't explain it well but after contacting Garmin support and they trained me I'm much happier with the bell…

My experience with this device.

Absolutely LOVE this item. I have a stubborn husky who loves to roam free and chase deer but now she stays in the yard and just watches. I haven't had to use it in a while, but that's the purpose of the collar, isn't it? My dog hasn't worn a collar in months. The collar's battery lasts 2-3 days if left on day and night. The controller battery lasts forever. I've had a few times where it wasn't shocking BUT I have a fat long haired dog and I don't like it being too tight around his neck. If…

Long battery life, 36 levels and ease of use

I have been training my dog with this collar for a few months now. Works very reliably, battery life is excellent. Lasts all day with multiple workouts. Not spilled yet. The remote control has a comfortable rubberized coating that makes it easy to control, juggling a leash and a treat. Unlike remote controls with buttons, the level settings are less likely to be accidentally changed. Also, despite what other reviews are suggesting, this *really* has 36 levels. The numbers on the display only go

Straight out of the box. that does not work.

Usability was average given the number of features supported. However, this is useless for two reasons. 1.) Battery Life: Charged overnight, charging indicator was green. Tested for 10 minutes and the light started flashing red. I had to charge. Fail! 2.) I tried the correction modes on myself. At the first 4 levels, the adjustment was not felt, then at level 5. ZAP! Ouch. I lowered the level to 3 and felt almost nothing. Back to stage 4, same slight fix as stage 3. I tested this several times…

It works! Even on a Bullmastiff.

We bought this because our English Mastiff has stopped barking. He barked at anything that moved or could hear, but not necessarily see. Initially, the percussion section was ineffective, but due to the many layers of skin around his neck, we didn't pull it tight enough or let it through the layers. Once we figured it out and placed it correctly, everything worked. The dog has learned in the past few weeks what happens when it barks. The first button we press is for the beep and it responds…

Great trainer! Quality Buy

I love this product! I was so stressed out with my dog for various reasons. He was 6-7 months old so he was a big 60 lb puppy. Barked when we spent time in the garden, chewed on my patio furniture, trampoline net, etc. I called my dad to see if he wanted a family member and we chatted for a bit. He suggested trying everything possible first. So I bought a lot of chew toys and gave him a raw marrow bone and a kong bone. I also have this collar. The reason I chose this one was because it was the…

Poor Barklimiter is the best in collars, harnesses and leashes

I bought two of these to use with my Labradoodles and tied them to one controller, although we used to use two controllers so my wife could have a dog could repair while I repair other. As a remote controlled collar I really like Garmin, the bands are flexible but strong, I wear the collars on my dogs 10-12 hours a day and the battery lasts 4-5 days as my dogs rarely need correction at this point. When I use the correction it is constant and there are enough levels to fine tune the stimulation…

happy Tri-Tronics user

As a long-time happy Tri-Tronics user, I find Garmin's changes disappointing. With my old remote, and pretty much every pre-Garmin remote, it was easy and intuitive to control multiple dogs without even looking at the remote because you could tell by touch what collar you were wearing and what level of stimulation. (assuming you've taken the time to familiarize yourself with the remote). This is not possible with this system. Which collar is active can only be seen on the display. This slows…
