First let me say that I LOVE Keen shoes for my kids and buy them Keen sandals every summer and have also bought many pairs of Keen winter boots for them. They are fantastic quality, transfer well from kid to kid and very comfortable (sneaker style) for my kids to wear to school in the winter and not just for bulky play in the snow. However, this pair fails. Tightening the upper laces is critical to keeping the snow/cold out and the leather strip along the top hem does not tighten the boots at all. The pairs we've had in a similar style in the past don't have leather on the legs - just a very flexible (but durable) synthetic fabric that stretches and loosens easily and beautifully. All of these boots' other great features (and there are many, including the adorable Yeti fabric) are overshadowed by the fact that they don't work in the most basic and important way. Unless your child has very large calves and does not need to tighten them, these boots will not work well.
