I am concerned that this adapter may damage my monitor's power supply. At first it worked as advertised, but gradually my (second) monitor stopped waking up after my computer shut down. Now the power lights are flashing on and off, the image flickers on and off, then goes blank and becomes unresponsive. The power button does not work. The only workaround is to unplug it and then plug it back in, "shock the system" and bring it back to life. It continues to deteriorate, occasionally only displaying the image on the screen as flickering lines. Meanwhile, my main monitor with Displayport connection is unaffected and works as expected.
