I have used a regular jug with a Zero water filter for many years. There are many differences to this EcoFilter. This eco-filter lasts much longer than a conventional filter. A regular filter will acidify the water over time, but it isn't because it's just a carbon filter. As a result, fewer substances are removed from the water, but unpleasant tastes and odors are well removed. Drinking water from this filter is still tastier than tap water. That's a good compromise. It looks like there is no plastic cover around the filter and it's more eco-friendly. This jug does not have a faucet, so pouring water may be more difficult for young children. We usually pour it into a large container with a faucet.
