This is a great starter kit if you are just getting started with electronics. I needed to add a few connectors to my 3D printer (well, not necessarily, but I really wanted to) so I could replace the hot-end fans when they fail without having to resort to desoldering or anything. Once I figured out how to use the crimping tool, everything worked great. If this is your first time crimping connectors, it's best to leave the contacts on the strip. Insert the pin into the pliers so that the pointed part goes past it and the locking tab is not pinched. Make sure the "open" side of the wings is facing the deeper side of the crease, this will crease them. Squeeze the crimping tool just enough to hold it in place, then insert the wire. Make sure you only cut the first 2mm or so! Then press until it unlocks and you have a perfect connection. If, like me, you were hoping to make one-sided males and one-sided females, you won't be able to with this kit. Instead, you use two jacks on each cable and then a plug to connect them. Not as sure as I'd like, but I need to find a decent set of RCY connections.
